The Scholars & Gentlemen is a chamber music ensemble of 18 voices (6S, 4A, 4T, 4B)
with a remit to perform music of the Renaissance and Baroque periods to a high standard.
The group is based at St. Oswald’s Parish Church, Oswestry, Shropshire.
We currently have vacancies for 1 soprano and 2 tenors.
The choir performs 3 or 4 concerts each year and works to a short rehearsal period, meeting on alternate
Wednesdays at St. Oswald’s Church from 7.30 to 9.15pm.
Members should be competent sight readers or possess the ability to learn at second sight and be able to
blend with the ensemble.

Saturday 1st
February The Genius of Palestrina.
Including the Missa Brevis and a Selection from the Song of Solomon motets
Sunday 13th April A Passion for Music
Music for Passiontide including Tallis ‘Lamentations’ Victoria ‘Tenebrae Responsories and Allegri
‘Miserere’
Date to be agreed (June / July) Masses of Music
Music for the Mass to include music of Taverner, Byrd, Victoria and Palestrina.
